PatientRightsAdvocate.org Founder and Chairman Cynthia A. Fisher Statement on President Trump’s 2025 Healthcare Price Transparency Executive Order
Fisher: “Executive order cements Trump’s legacy as the president who transformed American healthcare for consumers.”
Today, Cynthia A. Fisher, founder and chairman of PatientRightsAdvocate.org , released the following statement on the executive order signed by President Donald J. Trump regarding healthcare price transparency:
“President Trump paved the way for actual healthcare prices for American patients, taxpayers, employers, and unions – the true purchasers of care. Consumers have long been left without the ability to see upfront prices, or to have remedy or recourse for overcharges, hidden fees, and surprise medical bills. This opacity has allowed healthcare costs and insurance premiums to skyrocket, and medical debt collections to soar. Real prices allow patients to shop and compare so they can pay $300 for an MRI instead of $3,000. Price transparency empowers employers and unions to design better benefits plans to lower costs and protect from overcharges.
“President Trump's executive order strengthens his first-term hospital and health insurance price transparency rules, increases enforcement, and reverses the Biden administration's rollbacks. By revealing upfront prices throughout the healthcare system, including for prescription drugs, this order allows consumers to spot wide price variations, avoid price gouging, choose affordable care, and benefit from competition to lower their costs. The executive order requires real prices – not estimates – to protect patients.
“By signing such a bold executive order only five weeks into his administration, President Trump signals to the healthcare industry that radical transparency will be enforced, and that hospitals, health insurers, and middle players will be held accountable for keeping patients in the dark about their real prices. This order cements Trump’s legacy as the president who transformed American healthcare and lowered the costs of care and coverage for all consumers. In this new day, American patients will be put first.”
