New Poll in Battleground States Demonstrates Strong Support for Healthcare Price Transparency in the Next COVID-19 Stimulus Package

July 20, 2020 — A new poll from PatientRightsAdvocate.org shows that Americans overwhelmingly support requiring hospitals and insurance companies to disclose their cash prices and negotiated rates.

1,200 voters in states with competitive Senate races (AZ, CO, GA, IA, ME, MT, NC) were polled from July 13-15, 2020. Highlights include:

  • 88% of voters agree that all organizations involved in healthcare should disclose their prices.

  • 82% of voters agree that price transparency will lead to lower costs, increased competition, and improved service.

  • 67% of voters agree that healthcare lobbyists should drop their lawsuits against the Administration related to price transparency.

  • 66% of voters are more likely to vote for a candidate who votes to include price transparency in the next COVID-19 stimulus package.

  • 59% of voters say that price transparency should be passed immediately in the next COVID-19 stimulus package.

The poll was developed with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s consulting firm, Gingrich 360 and was conducted by McLaughlin & Associates.
